CARE GUIDE

How to keep Allium Suaveolens.

Light

Stiff onion prefers a spot that receives plentiful light for most of the day. However, it can tolerate locations with reduced light during the day. Excessive sun may cause desiccation, while too little light can lead to weak growth.

Temperature

Stiff onion is native to temperate regions and does best in temperatures of 68 to 95°F (20 to 35℃). Since it prefers warmer conditions, it's advisable to provide supplemental heating during winter if temperatures drop below 68°F (20℃) to ensure optimal growth.

Fertilizer

The best time to fertilize a Stiff onion is in early spring, as it is coming out of dormancy and starting active growth. Fertilization supplies essential nutrients for healthy development. While Stiff onion has comparatively low fertilizer requirements, feeding it annually can improve its survival and encourage better, longer-lasting flowers.

Pruning

Allium suaveolens features aromatic leaves and star-shaped flowers. To encourage growth and maintain its shape, prune the plant in early spring. This process also involves removing any dead foliage. Regular pruning helps prevent overcrowding, promotes better air circulation, and boosts both the plant's vigor and blooming potential. For more detailed pruning techniques, refer to horticultural guides.

Pot & Repot

Allium suaveolens needs pots with excellent drainage to thrive.
