Anacampseros papyracea

Originating from arid areas, Anacampseros papyracea performs best in full sun, as its native habitat has intense sunlight and scant shade. It can also tolerate partial sun, which provides some flexibility in its growth.

Although Anacampseros papyracea can tolerate some heat, it mainly grows and thrives in cooler seasons and becomes dormant in summer. In very hot summer weather, provide shade to avoid scorching from strong sunlight. Watering should be reduced or stopped during the hottest period to prevent root rot. It grows vigorously in winter and spring, and as long as temperatures do not fall too low it will keep growing steadily.

For Anacampseros papyracea, light doses of fertilizer once or twice a year during the growing season are sufficient. Avoid fertilizing in winter and in summer when the plant is dormant. Reduce fertilizer for repotted plants and wait a couple of months after repotting before applying fertilizer. Fertilizing supports healthy growth and encourages blooms.

When repotting Anacampseros papyracea, choose a pot slightly larger than the current one that provides good drainage. Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Carefully lift the plant from its old pot, brush off excess soil, and place it at the same depth in the new container. Wait a few days before watering so any root damage can heal. Repot in spring or fall and keep the plant in a brightly lit spot.
