Anthurium crassinervium is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae, native to Venezuela and Colombia in South America, and some Caribbean islands. It was first described by Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin in 1791 as Pothos crassinervius and transferred to Anthurium in 1829 by Heinrich Wilhelm Schott.
Anthurium crassinervium is largely disease-resistant and typically does not fall victim to illnesses. Nevertheless, it can develop leaf spots if it is kept in low light with poor airflow and is overwatered. Its care is rated easy, since it mainly needs regular watering and little else. Anthurium crassinervium is appropriate for people who don't have the time or energy to dedicate to frequent plant care.
How to keep Anthurium Crassinervium.
Light
Anthurium crassinervium is indigenous to habitats such as forest understories and rocky areas, where it occurs in natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate full sun or full shade, showing its versatility and hardiness.
Temperature
Anthurium crassinervium comes from tropical zones, where the climate is usually warm and humid. Consequently, it is well suited to high temperatures and moisture. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a consistent thermal environment, so avoiding temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It generally cannot withstand cold and needs warmer conditions to grow. If the ambient temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.
Fertilizer
Anthurium crassinervium requires the most fertilizer during its active growth phase, which occurs mainly in spring, summer, and early fall. Fertilizing provides essential nutrients that the soil may lack, supporting healthy root and stem development and the attractive foliage that is a characteristic feature of this plant.
Pot & Repot
Repot Anthurium crassinervium in spring or summer when the weather is warm enough, choosing a slightly larger pot with good drainage. Water thoroughly after repotting and position the plant in bright, indirect light. Consider installing a moss pole to support the plant as it grows.
