Jersey thrift is a sun-loving, perennial herbaceous plant native to open habitats and commonly found in meadows and grasslands. It prefers full sun but can also tolerate partial sun.

Jersey thrift can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but its distribution may still be restricted by different combinations of moisture and heat. It does best in warm summer conditions with sufficient rainfall or watering. Prolonged periods of cloudy, rainy weather or extended high temperatures can increase the chance of Jersey thrift dying. In winter, proper protection against cold can improve the plant’s survival.

The best time to fertilize a Jersey thrift is in early spring, when it is coming out of dormancy and beginning active growth. Fertilization supplies essential nutrients for healthy development. Although Jersey thrift has relatively low fertilizer requirements, applying fertilizer annually can improve its survival and encourage better, longer-lasting flowers.
