Shore spleenwort is native to habitats such as forest understories or rocky locations that provide natural shade. It favors Full Shade but can tolerate Partial Sun.

Shore spleenwort grows best in forest undergrowth. It is very sensitive to temperature and moisture; high heat, dry conditions, and strong sunlight can all stress Shore spleenwort. In summer it needs adequate shade and a humid environment. Generally it does not require special care in winter, but prolonged dry periods in winter can still be fatal to the plant.

Shore spleenwort prospers in coastal environments and needs minimal pruning. To boost growth and improve appearance, trim any dead or discolored fronds in early spring. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can stress the plant. Regularly removing old fronds helps ensure good air circulation and prevents decay, which promotes the health of shore spleenwort.
