Big carpetgrass comes from tropical areas, where the weather is usually warm and humid. Therefore, it is well suited to high heat and humidity. It does not tolerate abrupt temperature shifts and prefers a consistent temperature, so keeping indoor temperature swings to a minimum is important. It generally cannot withstand cold and needs higher temperatures to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

Big carpetgrass needs extra nutrients to encourage healthy new growth. In spring, adding compost around the plant’s base can effectively supply the nutrition it requires. Fertilizing helps support vigorous growth and improves the plant’s resistance to diseases and pests.
