Begonia platanifolia occurs naturally in habitats like forest understories and rocky sites, where it is exposed to natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate both full sun and full shade, reflecting its adaptable, hardy nature.

Begonia platanifolia is quite adaptable to heat and can tolerate higher temperatures as well as wide temperature fluctuations. In hot weather, attention should be paid to watering and providing adequate shade to avoid sunburn. On the other hand, Begonia platanifolia has limited tolerance for low temperatures. While it can handle some cold, very low temperatures may cause frost damage.

A single fertilizer application in spring is generally adequate for Begonia platanifolia, but repeated feedings can maximize growth. Feed every month to month and a half. Fertilization improves the leaves' appearance and function, helping maintain even color and a healthy texture. It also encourages root development and better nutrient uptake for long-term plant health.

When repotting Begonia platanifolia, select a pot 1-2 inches (2.5–5.1 cm) larger with plenty of drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix.
