Begonia ravenii is native to habitats such as forest understories and rocky areas, where it grows under natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate both full sun and full shade, showing its versatility and hardiness.

Begonia ravenii comes from tropical areas, which generally have warm, humid climates. Because of this, it is well suited to high temperatures and humidity. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a stable thermal environment, so avoiding temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It generally cannot withstand cold and needs higher temperatures to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

During its active growth period, primarily in the spring, summer, and early autumn, Begonia ravenii will need the highest amount of fertilizer. The fertilization process is crucial in supplying necessary nutrients that might not be present in the soil, encouraging vigorous development of roots and stems, and promoting lush foliage, which is a distinctive characteristic of this specific plant.

While repotting Begonia ravenii, select a pot that is 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) larger with sufficient drainage openings. Opt for a potting mixture that drains well.
