Bouvardia erecta

Bouvardia erecta is native to open habitats, such as sunny meadows and forest edges, which offer abundant light. It flourishes in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to different sunlight conditions.

Bouvardia erecta demonstrates strong adaptability to temperature, tolerating higher heat and considerable temperature fluctuations. In hot weather, attention should be paid to watering and providing suitable shade to prevent sunburn. On the other hand, Bouvardia erecta is fairly sensitive to cold; it can tolerate some chill, but very low temperatures can cause frost damage.

Timing is essential when fertilizing Bouvardia erecta. Apply fertilizer in early spring and repeat monthly until early summer. Fertilizer aids the production of attractive blooms and supplies energy during both dormant and active growth periods.

When repotting Bouvardia erecta, select a pot 1-2 inches (2.5–5.1 cm) larger with good drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix. Repot in spring or fall, making sure the root ball is slightly lower than the rim of the pot. Water thoroughly after repotting and place in a warm spot with indirect sunlight.
