ON THIS PLANT

Cassinia laevis, commonly known as cough bush, dead finish, curry bush or rosemary bush, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae and is endemic to south-eastern continental Australia. A note from PlantMom

Shiny cassinia has strong resistance to disease and is generally not susceptible to illnesses. In terms of care, the plant is fairly low maintenance. Planted outdoors it needs little watering, and larger specimens typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish blooming. Shiny cassiniat is appropriate for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or a deck, and does not need extensive gardening experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Cassinia Laevis.

Light

Shiny cassinia comes from open habitats, like sunny meadows and forest edges, where light is abundant. It does best in Full Sun but will also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to different sunlight levels.

Temperature

Shiny cassinia shows strong adaptability to a variety of climatic conditions, whether facing very hot summers or cold winters. However, it does have an optimal temperature range for growth. If temperatures rise too high, the plant is vulnerable to heat and humidity stress, which can lead to its death. In places where temperatures near the lower limit of its cold tolerance, it is important to use insulation measures to protect the plant.

Fertilizer

Fertilize your Shiny cassinia in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Regular feeding improves its overall health, producing vigorous growth, better tolerance of harsh conditions, and greater resistance to diseases and pests. Stick to a consistent fertilization schedule for your Shiny cassinia to keep the foliage vibrant and richly colored with a lush appearance.
