Crassula corallina

Native to dry regions, Coral stonecrop does best in full sun; its native habitat is marked by intense sunlight and very little shade. It also tolerates partial sun, giving it some flexibility in how it grows.

Although Coral stonecrop can tolerate some heat, it mainly performs and grows during cooler months and becomes dormant in summer. In very hot summer conditions, give it shade to avoid scorching from strong sunlight. Watering should be cut back or stopped during the hottest period to prevent root rot. It grows vigorously in winter and spring. If temperatures do not fall too low, it will continue to grow steadily.

Coral stonecrop only needs small amounts of fertilizer once or twice a year during the growing season. Do not fertilize in winter or in summer when it is dormant. Cut back on fertilizer for plants that have been repotted and wait a couple of months after repotting before applying fertilizer. Fertilizing helps maintain healthy growth and encourages blooming.

When repotting Coral stonecrop, choose a pot a bit larger than the current one that has good drainage. Use a gritty, well-draining mix made for succulents or cacti. Gently remove the plant from its old pot, brush off excess soil, and plant it at the same depth. Wait a few days before watering to allow any root damage to heal. Repot in spring or fall and place it in a brightly lit spot.
