Denmoza rhodacantha

Native to arid regions, Denmoza rhodacantha grows best in full sun; its natural habitat is marked by intense sunlight and very little shade. It will also tolerate partial sun, giving it some flexibility in its growth.

Denmoza rhodacantha is somewhat tolerant of heat but primarily does best and grows during the cooler months, becoming dormant in summer. In hot summer conditions, provide shade to avoid scorching from intense sunlight. Watering should be cut back or stopped during the hottest period to prevent root rot. It grows vigorously in winter and spring, and will continue steady growth as long as temperatures do not fall too low.

For Denmoza rhodacantha, apply light doses of fertilizer 1–2 times a year during the growing season. Do not fertilize in winter or in summer when the plant is dormant. Use reduced fertilizer for plants that have been repotted and wait a couple of months after repotting before feeding. Fertilizing helps maintain healthy growth and promotes blooming.
