Dianthus balbisii is a herbaceous perennial plant of the genus Dianthus of the family Caryophyllaceae. The genus name Dianthus derives from the Greek words for divine ("dios") and flower ("anthos"), while the species name balbisii honors the Italian botanist Giovanni Battista Balbis (1765–1831).
Dianthus balbisii displays strong disease resistance and is generally not susceptible to illnesses. With respect to upkeep, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Planted outdoors, it needs minimal watering, and larger specimens typically do not need pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they have finished blooming. Dianthus balbisii is appropriate for anyone who has an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not require extensive care experience.
