Echinaria is a genus of Eurasian and North African plants in the grass family. The only known species is Echinaria capitata, native to the Mediterranean Region as well as the Southwest and Central Asia (from Portugal and Morocco to Kazakhstan).
Headed pricklegrass shows strong resistance to disease and is generally not susceptible to illnesses. Regarding care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors, it needs only minimal watering, and larger plants typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have bloomed. Headed pricklegrasst is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand much in the way of care experience.
How to keep Echinaria Capitata.
Light
Headed pricklegrass is a sun-loving, perennial herbaceous plant that comes from open habitats and is frequently found in meadows and grasslands. It prefers full sun but can also tolerate partial sun.
Temperature
Headed pricklegrass can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but its range may still be restricted by different combinations of moisture and heat. It does best in warm summer conditions with sufficient rainfall or irrigation. Extended periods of cloudy, rainy weather, as well as extended high temperatures, can raise the chance of Headed pricklegrass dying. In winter, adequate protection from cold can increase the plant’s survival rate.
Fertilizer
Headed pricklegrass needs extra nutrients to encourage healthy new growth. In spring, spreading compost around the plant's base will effectively provide the nutrition it requires. Fertilizing supports vigorous growth and helps the plant resist diseases and pests.
