Description
Source: leafsnapErigeron philadelphicus, the Philadelphia fleabane, is a plant in the family Asteraceae. Also known as common fleabane, daisy fleabane, frost-root, marsh fleabane, poor robin's plantain, skervish, and in the British Isles as robin's-plantain. It is native to North America and has been introduced to Eurasia.
💡 Philadelphia fleabane was introduced to Europe from North America centuries ago. It was first cultivated as an ornamental garden plant in Vienna around 1700. Shortly thereafter, it was introduced to the gardens of China and Japan. The plant's resilient seeds, dispersed by the wind, soon spread into the wild. As a result, it rapidly became naturalized across Eurasia.
