Native to arid areas, Eulychnia castanea flourishes in full sun; its native habitat is marked by intense sunlight and scant shade. It also tolerates partial sun, which allows some flexibility in its growth.

Eulychnia castanea prospers in warm conditions and needs higher temperatures during the growing season to support growth and metabolic activity. It prefers abundant sunlight, suitable moisture levels, and good air circulation. However, it is vulnerable to damage from very low temperatures and from overwatering. It is important to maintain a balance and to avoid temperatures that are too high or conditions that are too dry.

This plant prefers dry conditions, so don't mist it. However, watering it less often can also thrive in higher humidity.

For Eulychnia castanea, light doses of fertilizer once or twice a year during the growing season are sufficient. Avoid fertilizing in winter or summer when it is dormant.
