Pink ear is native to habitats with dappled light, such as the forest understory or rocky locations that provide natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can also tolerate full sun.

Pink ear performs best in warm surroundings and needs elevated temperatures during the growing season to support growth and metabolic activity. It prefers abundant sunlight, proper moisture levels, and good air circulation. However, it can be harmed by very low temperatures and by overwatering. Maintaining a balance is essential, and extremely high temperatures or excessively dry conditions should also be avoided.

Pink ear only needs light fertilizer applications once or twice a year during the growing season. Do not fertilize in winter or summer, when it is dormant. Reduce fertilizer for plants that have been repotted and wait a couple of months after repotting before applying any. Fertilizing helps maintain healthy growth and encourages blooming.
