Bergkoo prefers warm conditions and needs warmer temperatures during the growing season to encourage growth and metabolic activity. It benefits from ample sunlight, adequate moisture, and good ventilation. However, it can be harmed by very low temperatures and by too much watering. It's important to maintain balance and to avoid excessively high temperatures and overly dry conditions as well.

For Bergkoo, apply light amounts of fertilizer 1-2 times a year during the growing season. Avoid fertilizing in winter and in summer when the plant is dormant. Cut back on fertilizer for plants that have been repotted and wait a couple of months after repotting before you start fertilizing. Fertilizing supports healthy growth and encourages blooms.

When repotting Bergkoo, choose a pot slightly larger than the current one that has good drainage. Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Gently remove the plant from its old pot, brush off excess soil, and set it at the same depth. Wait a few days before watering so any root damage can heal. Repot in spring or fall, and place the plant in a brightly lit spot.

Fockea capensis is known for its thick, caudiciform base and its vining growth habit. To encourage growth and maintain its structure, it's best to prune the plant in early spring.
