Goeppertia majestica, the majestic prayer plant, is a species of flowering plant in the family Marantaceae. It is native to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Guyana, and northern Brazil, and has been introduced to Venezuela.

Care Guide

💧 Water

The majestic prayer plant, native to tropical rainforests, thrives in environments with high humidity and consistently moist soil. To maintain its lush foliage, water it weekly. Additionally, regular misting is beneficial because it mimics the plant’s natural habitat, ensuring vibrant evergreen leaves throughout the year.

☀️ Light Full shade

The Majestic prayer plant comes from habitats such as forest understories or rocky areas that provide natural shade. It prefers Full Shade but can tolerate Partial Sun.

Ideal: Full shade
🌡️ Temperature 20–37.8°C

The Majestic prayer plant comes from tropical areas, where the climate is usually warm and humid. As a result, it is adapted to high temperatures and humidity. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a steady temperature, so avoiding temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It generally cannot withstand cold conditions and needs warmer temperatures to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

🪴 Pot & Repot 3-4 years

When repotting a Majestic prayer plant, pick a pot a little larger than the existing one that provides good drainage. Do the repotting in spring or fall and use a well-draining potting mix. Plant it at the same depth as it was before. Water well after repotting and put it in a warm spot with bright, indirect light. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
