The Porcelain Flower (Hoya Pubicalyx), also known as the Carnosa, Compacta, Hindu Rope, Krimson Princess, Krimson Queen, Pink Silver, or the Silver Pink Vine, is an apocynaceae family plant with beautiful blooms that may be grown inside. The bloom of the hoya pubicalyx is a little pink star with a lighter pink star in the center and a maroon core. The evergreen hoya pubicalyx leaves are approximately four inches long and 2.4 inches wide, and they may grow to be around ten feet tall. The hoya, which is native to the Philippines, grows well in a warm and humid climate with little care, so you don't have to worry about it too much.

Care Guide

💧 Water Once a week

The Hoya pubicalyx plant flourishes in high humidity, which is typical of tropical rainforest environments. It requires consistent moisture, so watering once a week is recommended. To prevent waterlogging and root rot, it's important to use a well-draining soil mix. This characteristic makes the Hoya pubicalyx a popular choice for indoor settings.

Suggested frequency: Once a week
☀️ Light Partial sun

Hoya pubicalyx comes from places with dappled light, like forest understories or rocky sites that provide natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can also handle full sun.

Ideal: Partial sun
🌡️ Temperature 20–37.8°C

Hoya pubicalyx grows best in warm conditions and needs relatively high temperatures during the growing season to support growth and metabolic activity. It prefers plenty of sunlight, proper moisture levels, and good airflow. However, it can be damaged by very low temperatures and by overwatering. It is also important to maintain balance and avoid excessively high temperatures or overly dry conditions.

🌱 Fertilizer Every 30 days

Hoya pubicalyx needs only light applications of fertilizer once or twice a year during the growing season. Do not fertilize in winter or in summer when the plant is dormant. Reduce the amount of fertilizer for recently repotted plants and wait a couple of months after repotting before applying fertilizer. Fertilizing helps maintain healthy growth and promotes blooms.

Suggested frequency: Every 30 days
🪴 Pot & Repot Every 2 years

When repotting Hoya pubicalyx, choose a pot slightly larger than the current one that provides good drainage. Use a gritty, well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Gently remove the plant from its old pot, brush off excess soil, and plant it at the same depth. Wait for a few days before watering to allow any root damage to heal. Repot in spring or fall and place the plant in a brightly lit location.

Suggested frequency: Every 2 years
✂️ Pruning

Avoid heavy pruning of Hoya pubicalyx, as it doesn't respond well to it. You can do some light trimming in early spring to control its size or remove any dead growth, which helps encourage new foliage and flowers. Pruning at other times of the year is not recommended.

☠️ Toxicity

Hoya pubicalyx plants have a milk-like fluid that is poisonous in nature. Consumption or contact with the white sap might result in health problems or allergies. As a result, it is best to keep the plant away from kids and animals.
