ON THIS PLANT

Juncus tenageia, called the sand rush, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Juncus, native to northwestern Africa, many of the Mediterranean islands, warmer parts of southern, central and eastern Europe, and western Asia including Turkey, the Caucasus region, and Kazakhstan. It is typically found growing in wet, nutrient-poor rock, sand or clay-based soils, often in clay pits, old brickyards, and on the edges of roads.

A note from PlantMom

Sand rush is resistant to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger plants usually do not require pruning; smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish blooming. Sand rush is suitable for anyone with outdoor space, like a garden or deck, and does not demand much plant-care experience.
