A note from PlantMom

Wild grape displays strong disease resistance and is generally not prone to illness. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger specimens typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have finished blooming. Wild grape is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand much prior care experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Lannea Edulis.

Light

Wild grape comes from open habitats, such as sunny meadows and forest edges, which provide abundant light. It does best in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to various sunlight conditions.

Temperature

Wild grape comes from tropical areas, where the weather is usually warm and humid. Consequently, it is well suited to high temperatures and moisture. It dislikes sudden temperature shifts and prefers a steady thermal environment, so preventing temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It generally cannot tolerate cold and needs higher temperatures to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

Fertilizer

Use organic fertilizers (for example, fish emulsion or compost) instead of chemical fertilizers for Wild grape. Give young plants increased nitrogen and phosphorus in spring. Work compost or fertilizer into the soil before or immediately after planting. For established plants, apply a balanced fertilizer or one targeted to specific deficiencies in spring. Nutrient deficiencies result in small leaves, short shoots, yellow or bronze foliage, acidic-tasting fruit, premature fruit drop, and splitting.
