Lenophyllum acutifolium
Care Guide
💧 Water
☀️ Light Partial sun
Lenophyllum comes from habitats with dappled light, such as the understory of forests or rocky sites that provide natural shade. It prefers partial sun but is also able to tolerate full sun.
🌡️ Temperature 20–37.8°C
Although Lenophyllum can tolerate some heat, it prefers and grows best in cooler periods and becomes dormant during summer. In very hot summer conditions, provide shade to avoid scorching from strong sunlight. Reduce or suspend watering during the hottest part of the year to prevent root rot. Lenophyllum shows vigorous growth in winter and spring, and will continue to grow steadily provided temperatures do not fall too low.

🌱 Fertilizer
For Lenophyllum, light applications of fertilizer once or twice a year during the growing season are adequate. Do not fertilize in winter or summer when the plant is dormant. Use less fertilizer for repotted plants and wait a couple of months after repotting before applying any. Fertilizing promotes healthy growth and helps encourage flowering.
🪴 Pot & Repot Every 2 years
When repotting Lenophyllum, choose a pot slightly larger than the current one that provides good drainage. Use a gritty, well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Gently remove the plant from its old container, brush off excess soil, and set it into the new pot at the same depth. Wait a few days before watering so any root damage can heal. Repot in spring or fall, and place it in a brightly lit spot.
✂️ Pruning
To keep large succulent plants, such as Lenophyllum, looking their best, you may need to prune them in the spring and fall by trimming dense branches. For propagation, cut a sturdy stem that has 5-6 leaves, apply sulfur powder to the cut end, and make sure the soil is slightly moist before planting it.
