ON THIS PLANT

Oenothera grandis, variously showy ragged evening-primrose, grand evening primrose, or large-flowered cut-leaved evening primrose, is an annual plant that is native to the southern Great Plains and parts of Mexico.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Oenothera Grandis.

Water

The showy evening primrose is drought-tolerant and perfect for xeriscaping, but it doesn't like waterlogged conditions. If you're growing it in pots, water deeply once a week, being careful not to overwater. For outdoor planting, water deeply just after planting in the spring and occasionally during hot summer periods. Throughout the rest of the year, natural rainfall typically provides enough moisture.

Pruning

To maintain healthy and vigorous growth, it's best to cut back showy evening primrose to the ground either in late fall after the leaves have dried or in early spring. This not only promotes abundant new foliage and strong growth in the spring but also helps reduce the risk of pests and diseases in the future.
