Oenothera villosa, the hairy evening primrose, is a species of flowering plant in the family Onagraceae. It is native to nearly all of the United States, and to all Canadian provinces and the Northwest Territories. It has been introduced to cool and cold-temperate regions worldwide. An erect biennial reaching 3–6 feet (0.91–1.83 m), it is typically found in open areas and disturbed situations.
How to keep Oenothera Villosa.
Water
Hairy evening primrose is a drought-tolerant plant, making it perfect for xeriscaping. It thrives in well-drained soil and should be watered carefully to prevent root rot. For potted plants, water deeply once a week. If you're planting outdoors in the spring, deep watering at the time of planting is important, and occasional watering during dry summer months will suffice.
Pruning
Cut back hairy evening primrose to the ground once the leaves dry in late fall to promote robust growth in the spring. Alternatively, you can perform this pruning in early spring. This practice also helps reduce the risk of pests and diseases in the coming year.
