The comb-leaf philodendron comes from tropical areas, where conditions are normally warm and humid. Consequently, it is adapted to high heat and humidity. It is sensitive to abrupt temperature shifts and prefers a steady thermal environment, so preventing temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It generally cannot tolerate cold and needs warmer conditions to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

The comb-leaf philodendron needs the most fertilizer during its active growth period, which is mainly in spring, summer, and early fall. Fertilization supplies essential nutrients that the soil may lack, supporting healthy root and stem development and the attractive foliage, which is an important characteristic of this plant.

Repot a comb-leaf philodendron in spring or summer when it’s warm enough, choosing a slightly larger pot with good drainage. Water thoroughly after repotting and place the plant in bright, indirect light. Consider adding a moss pole to support it as it grows.
