Pteroceltis Tatarinowii

ON THIS PLANT

Pteroceltis tatarinowii a species of tree endemic to China and the only extant member of the genus Pteroceltis. Common names include blue sandalwood, wingceltis or qing tan (Chinese: 青檀; pinyin: Qīngtán). Trees grow to 20 m (66 ft) tall and are used for timber, the bark fiber to make Xuan paper, and oil is extracted from its seeds.

Blue sandalwood has good resistance to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is relatively low-maintenance. When planted outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger plants generally do not require pruning. However, smaller plants should be pruned after they have finished blooming. Blue sandalwood is suitable for anyone with an outdoor space, such as a garden or deck, and does not require much care experience.
