Bead nutrush is a perennial herbaceous plant that prefers sunny conditions and comes from open habitats, frequently thriving in meadows and grasslands. It favors full sun but can also tolerate partial sun.

Bead nutrush comes from tropical areas, where the climate is usually warm and humid. Therefore it is adapted to high heat and moisture. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a steady thermal environment, so avoiding temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It generally cannot endure cold and needs higher temperatures to grow. If the temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even perish.

Bead nutrush needs extra nutrients to encourage healthy new growth. In spring, spreading compost around the base of the plant can provide the necessary nourishment. Fertilizing supports vigorous growth and helps the plant withstand diseases and pests.
