Tarlmounia is a plant genus in the family Asteraceae. The sole species is Tarlmounia elliptica (syn. Vernonia elliptica and V. elaeagnifolia), native to India, Burma and Thailand and naturalised in southern Taiwan and Queensland, Australia. Common names include curtain creeper, vernonia creeper and parda bel.
Tarlmounia elliptica is resistant to disease and is generally not susceptible to illnesses. Regarding care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and mature specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they finish flowering. Tarlmounia ellipticat is appropriate for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand much gardening experience.
How to keep Tarlmounia Elliptica.
Light
Tarlmounia elliptica is native to habitats like forest understories or rocky areas, where it grows under natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate full sun or full shade, reflecting its versatile and hardy nature.
Temperature
Tarlmounia elliptica comes from tropical areas, where the climate is generally warm and humid. Consequently, it is adapted to high temperatures and moisture. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and favors a stable thermal environment, so avoiding temperature fluctuations indoors is important. It typically cannot withstand cold and needs warmer conditions to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even perish.
Fertilizer
Fertilization is essential for the care of Tarlmounia elliptica. Regular feeding during the growing season maintains the energy needed for its showy leaves and supports overall growth. Failing to fertilize can lead to unhealthy foliage, reduced ornamental value, and stunted or weak growth that is more likely to break.
