Tilia oliveri, the Chinese white lime or Oliver's lime, is a species of flowering plant in the family Malvaceae, native to central and southeastern China. It has found use as a street tree, and does well in the United Kingdom, but is not commercially available in the United States.

A note from PlantMom

Tilia oliveri shows strong resistance to disease and is usually not susceptible to illnesses. Regarding upkeep, this species is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens generally do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish flowering. CARE GUIDE

How to keep Tilia Oliveri.

Light

Tilia oliveri comes from open habitats, like sunny meadows and forest edges, that offer plenty of light. It does best in full sun but can also tolerate partial sun, showing good adaptability to different light conditions.

Temperature

Tilia oliveri is highly adaptable to a range of climatic conditions, from intense summer heat to severe winter cold. Nevertheless, it has a preferred temperature range for optimal growth. If temperatures become too high, the plant can experience heat and humidity stress, which may cause it to die. In locations where temperatures approach the lower boundary of its cold tolerance, it is important to provide insulation to protect the plant.

Fertilizer

The timing of fertilizing Tilia oliveri is important. Apply fertilizer in early spring and continue once a month until early summer. Fertilizer encourages attractive blooms and supplies energy during both dormant periods and active growth.
