A note from PlantMom

Bristle bent is fairly disease-resistant and typically does not suffer from illnesses. Regarding care, this plant is relatively low-maintenance. Planted outdoors, it needs little watering, and larger specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they finish blooming. Bristle bentt is appropriate for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand much gardening experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Agrostis Curtisii.

Light

Bristle bent is a sun-loving, herbaceous perennial that comes from open habitats and commonly thrives in meadows and grasslands. It prefers full sun but can also tolerate partial sun conditions.

Temperature

Bristle bent can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but its distribution may still be restricted by particular combinations of moisture and heat. It performs best in warm summer climates with adequate rainfall or watering. Extended stretches of cloudy, rainy weather, as well as prolonged high temperatures, can increase the chance of Bristle bent dying. In winter, suitable protection from cold can raise the plant’s survival rate.

Fertilizer

Bristle bent needs additional nutrients to encourage healthy new growth. In spring, spreading compost around the plant's base is an effective way to supply the nutrition it requires. Fertilizing supports robust growth and helps the plant withstand diseases and pests.

Pruning

Bristle bent, a perennial grass, thrives in heathlands and moorlands. To encourage new growth, prune it in early spring by cutting back old stems to ground level. Avoid heavy pruning; instead, opt for light trimming. This improves airflow and reduces the risk of disease, leading to healthier growth.
