A note from PlantMom

Mountain dog-daisy has good resistance to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. However, it can be vulnerable to pests and diseases present in its environment. These issues are generally not serious. Regarding care, this plant needs a moderate level of maintenance. It should be pruned regularly to keep a neat appearance and support healthy growth. Applying fertilizer can also encourage flowering. Mountain dog-daisy is appropriate for anyone with outdoor space, such as a garden or patio, and does not demand extensive care experience. It may need more attention if cultivated indoors.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Anthemis Cretica.

Light

Mountain dog-daisy is a sun-loving, perennial herbaceous plant native to open habitats and commonly thrives in meadows and grasslands. It prefers full sun but can tolerate partial sun conditions.

Temperature

Mountain dog-daisy can tolerate a broad range of temperatures, but its distribution may still be restricted by specific combinations of moisture and heat. It performs best in warm summer conditions with sufficient rainfall or watering. Extended spells of cloudy, rainy weather, as well as prolonged high temperatures, can increase the risk of Mountain dog-daisy dying. In winter, adequate protection from cold can raise the plant's survival rate.

Fertilizer

The primary time to fertilize Mountain dog-daisy is in early spring, when the flowers are beginning to form. Using the proper fertilizer promotes stronger blooms and helps the Mountain dog-daisy produce attractive flowers. Applying fertilizer in early spring ensures excellent flowering throughout the season and supplies energy for periods of dormancy in growth.

Pruning

The mountain dog-daisy features daisy-like flowers and thrives in rocky, well-drained soils. To encourage bushy growth and extend its blooming period, prune the plant in early spring. Remove any dead stems and leggy growth to improve the plant's appearance and health, while also promoting air circulation to reduce the risk of disease.
