Solanum sarrachoides is a species of South American nightshade known as the hairy nightshade or leafy-fruited nightshade. The scientific name Solanum sarrachoides was long misused for a different species, Solanum physalifolium, by various authors. The original misidentified S. sarrachoides were held to be the variety S. physalifolium var. nitidibaccatum (also treated as distinct species, Solanum nitidibaccatum). The actual S. sarrachoides was also considered a variety of S. tweedianum, under this plant's obsolete name S. atriplicifolium, as established by Gilli based on Nees.S. sarrachoides occurs as an introduced species in the Southeastern United States and many other parts of the world.
Green nightshade is fairly disease-resistant and generally not prone to illness. However, it can be vulnerable to pests and diseases present in its environment. These infections are typically mild. For care, the plant requires moderate maintenance. It should be pruned regularly to preserve a neat appearance and healthy growth. Fertilizing can also help encourage flowering. Green nightshade is well suited to anyone with outdoor space, like a garden or patio, and does not need extensive care experience. It may demand more attention when grown indoors.
How to keep Solanum Nitidibaccatum.
Light
Green nightshade comes from bright, open environments where it does best in full sun. It can tolerate partial sun but favors direct sunlight for optimal growth. This annual and biennial plant is noted for its sun-loving nature.
Temperature
Green nightshade is fairly adaptable to temperature, able to endure higher heat and wider temperature swings. In hot weather, attention should be paid to watering and providing suitable shade to prevent sunburn. On the other hand, Green nightshade tolerates low temperatures poorly. While it can handle some cold, overly cold conditions can cause frost damage.
Fertilizer
Green nightshade responds well to regular, dilute fertilizer applications to encourage healthy leaf growth. Apply fertilizer to Green nightshade about once a month during the summer. Nitrogen is important for foliage, and adding nitrogen-rich sources helps Green nightshade thrive.
