Sterculia parviflora is a species of plant in the family Malvaceae. It is found in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
First described in the Flora Indica by the botanist William Roxburgh, S. parviflora is a tree reaching up to 35 metres (115 ft) tall.
Sterculia kayae demonstrates good resistance to disease and is generally unlikely to be affected by illnesses. With regard to care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger specimens typically do not require pruning; however, smaller plants should be pruned after they finish flowering. Sterculia kayaet is well suited to anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand extensive plant-care experience.
How to keep Sterculia Parviflora.
Light
Sterculia kayae is native to habitats like forest understories and rocky areas, where it grows under natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate both full sun and full shade, reflecting its hardy, adaptable nature.
Temperature
Sterculia kayae comes from tropical areas, where the climate is generally warm and humid. As a result, it is adapted to high temperatures and humidity. It reacts poorly to abrupt temperature changes and prefers a consistent temperature, so avoiding indoor temperature fluctuations is important. It typically cannot tolerate cold and needs relatively high temperatures for growth. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.
Fertilizer
The best time to fertilize a Sterculia kayae is in early spring, as it comes out of dormancy. This encourages overall growth and supports flower development. Fertilizing improves the leaves, stems, and branches, and promotes flowers that are large, bright, and long-lasting. It also helps transport nutrients from the roots to the flowers and boosts the plant's health and resistance to disease.
